The Civil War Comes to Life at the Wisconsin Veterans Museum!
(MADISON) ― The Wisconsin Veterans Museum will host a special, all ages event about Wisconsin’s role in the Civil War on Friday, July 13, 2007 at 10am. Admission is free.
Entitled “Re-enactors in the Gallery,” this event will allow visitors of all ages to interact with a picket detail from the Iron Brigade as they recall the events of fall 1862. Soldiers will talk about camp life, their gear, their weapons, the history of the Iron Brigade, and how they earned their famed nickname.
The re-enactors will set up in from the Battle of Antietam display and will be available until noon. There will also be a Civil War-themed craft activity in the gallery for children under the age of 10.
For further information on this program, please contact Jeff Kollath, Curator of Programs and Exhibitions, at (608) 261-0541.
