Welcome to the Wisconsin Veterans Museum’s resource webpage for National History Day. We are proud of our involvement in this enriching annual event and School group examines primary source documents in the Reserach Centertake great pleasure in introducing students to the wonder of primary sources through our collection of papers and photographs that commemorate, acknowledge, and affirm the role of Wisconsin veterans in America’s military past.

Visiting the Research Center can provide a better comprehension of the wide array of primary source materials available and help to determine your National History Day topic. The Research Center archives has the majority of its collections cataloged in WISCAT so teachers and students can search for primary sources online. Contact the Reference Archivist with questions or for further assistance.

This year’s theme is The Individual in History. Below, you will find links for past themes. Many of the themes overlap and materials from one can easily be used for another, so take a moment to check them out. If you use any of our ideas or materials in your project, please let us know so that we can start posting these “success stories.”
